Controlled Substance Abuse Testing

​The State of California is a drug-free workplace and no state employee who is on duty or on standby for duty shall:

  1. Use, possess, or be under the influence of illegal or unauthorized drugs, alcohol, or other mind-altering substances.

  2. Use or be under the influence of alcohol to any extent that impedes an employee's ability to perform his or her duties safely and effectively.

In addition, the state is legally required to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations regarding testing of state employees that have Commercial Driver's Licenses.
