Saving for and investing in the future of individuals with disabilities while maintaining public benefits like Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid is now available. CalABLE is a program offered by the State of California which allows eligible individuals whose disabilities began before age 26 to save and invest in tax advantaged accounts that can be accessed to pay for the everyday expenses of living a life with a disability. Family and friends may contribute to the account and savings up to $100,000 will not count against public disability benefits. For more information, visit CalABLE.ca.gov.
