What is LEAN?

Lean is a continuous improvement methodology based on five key principles to eliminate waste and increase value designed to improve processes and quality from the point of view of the customer.

Currently Offered LEAN Six Sigma Programs

White Belt Certification

Lean Six Sigma White Belt training is an introductory-level course that provides a comprehensive overview of the Lean Six Sigma methodology.

It is designed for individuals who have little or no prior experience with process improvement methodologies and who are interested in learning the basics of Lean Six Sigma. This training is suitable for individuals who want to gain a better understanding of how Lean Six Sigma can be applied to improve processes in their organization regardless of their role. This course will also explore Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) Methodology and its value in defining and communication organizational goals and priorities throughout the organization.

If you are interested in participating or would like one of your staff to participate in the program, please register through CalLearns for the next available section. The class will be limited to 30 participants.

Green Belt Certification

The goal of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program is to develop practitioners of this methodology who will have the capabilities needed to drive process improvement efforts in their organizations.

This is a very rigorous program intended for personnel who are exceptional performers in the workplace and have a strong interest in improving processes. Each Green Belt candidate will work with their leadership to identify an improvement project that will be the focus of their certification efforts. A cross-functional project team will also be identified; the Green Belt will lead this team through the Lean Six Sigma methodology in order to successfully identify the root causes of the process problems and implement the corresponding solutions.

If you are interested in participating or would like one of your staff to participate in the program, please send an email to CalHR Statewide Training with the name and e-mail address of the Green Belt candidate along with the name and e-mail address of the approving manager.

If the employee and their project are approved, CalHR will then follow up with the official enrollment links and information.

The class is limited to 24 participants and will be first-come-first-served in determining who gets into the program (the class typically fills up relatively quickly). We will be keeping an interest list for future cohorts based off applications submitted.

Black Belt Certification

The class is limited to 24 participants and will be first-come-first-served based on the completion of the Green Belt Certification course.  We will be keeping an interest list for future cohorts based off applications submitted.

If you are interested in participating or would like one of your staff to participate in the program, please send an email to CalHR Statewide Training with the name and e-mail address of the Green Belt candidate along with the name and e-mail address of the approving manager.
