Definition

Under close supervision, during summer months or on a part-time or intermittent basis during the school year in positions consistent with continued school attendance, to perform a variety of tasks which require limited or no work experience; and to do other related work.

Typical Tasks

Performs a variety of tasks considered to be the least difficult for a variety of jobs requiring limited or no work experience; performs routine tasks and assists other State employees in one or more of the following activities: clerical, manual labor, storekeeping, reception and telephone answering, food service and preparation, nonmedical patient care, office equipment operation, and grounds maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

Work Permit: Applicants under 18 years of age must possess an appropriate work permit required by the California State Education Code.

Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to: Follow simple oral directions; work cooperatively with others; perform tasks appropriate for specific jobs to which assigned.

Special Personal Characteristics

Willingness to perform a variety of manual or clerical tasks; a desire to develop job skills and proper work habits through work experience.
