Long-Term Care (LTC) insurance provides benefits to cover the costs of personal care, either in a nursing home or in one's own home, when they are unable to perform the basic activities of daily living (dressing, feeding, bathing, etc.). These costs are typically not covered by health insurance.
All current and former State employees (including retirees), as well as their spouses, parents, parents-in-law, step parents, adult children, adult siblings (including stepbrothers and stepsisters), grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and in-laws between the ages of 18 and 79) are eligible to apply for coverage with CalPERS LTC.
The CalPERS LTC is now accepting applications for long-term care coverage. Visit the CalPERS LTC website, or call (800) 908-9119, to learn more about CalPERS LTC coverage options and to download or request an application kit.
