Monica Erickson, Director of the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), the state agency responsible for human resource management of state employees, including issues related to employee salaries and benefits, job classifications, civil rights, training, exams, recruitment and retention. She has worked for over 30 years for the State of California and has served in fiscal and administrative roles including Deputy Director of Administration at the Department of Health Care Access and Information (2015 – 2023), Budget Officer at the Department of Social Services (2012 – 2015) and Principal Program Budget Analyst and Budget Analyst at the Department of Finance (1999 – 2012).

Sean has worked over 16 years for the State of California and has served in human resources and administrative roles including Deputy Director of Administration at the Department of State Hospitals, (2012 – 2026), Chief of Human Resources at the Department of State Hospitals (2017-2022) and Administrative Operations Manager at the Department of Community Services of Development (2014-2017). She served in various roles at the California Secretary of State including Health and Safety Officer and Training Officer II (2011 to 2013). At the California Lottery Commission (2010-2011), Sean was a Training Specialist on the Workforce and Succession Planning team.

Prior to state service, she was a Training Specialist at VSP Vision Care from 2005 to 2010. Sean earned a Master of Arts degree in Workforce Development Advocacy from California State University, Sacramento and a Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Studies from California State University, Sacramento. Sean enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering.
