Psychological Screening Program
The purpose of the Psychological Screening Program (PSP) is to provide pre-employment psychological screening of all candidates for State positions designated as peace officer empowered.
Pursuant to the requirements of Government Code section 1031(f), Penal Code section 13601(a), California Code of Regulations sections 599.971 et seq., and in accordance with Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) regulations, psychological screening is conducted to identify those individuals, who because of mental or emotional conditions and/or maladaptive personality characteristics, are unable to perform peace officer duties in a safe and effective manner.

Controlled Substance Abuse Testing and Treatment Program (CSATT)
CalHR is committed to supporting employee wellness and safety, including for employees who are struggling with substance use disorders; therefore, CalHR focuses not only on identifying drug and alcohol use in the workplace, but also on assisting employees to safely return to work by offering rehabilitation options. CalHR’s Controlled Substance Abuse Testing and Treatment Program (CSATT) within the Medical and Psychological Screening Division provides drug and alcohol testing and treatment referral services for federal and state mandated programs.
