Phase 4: Improve – Develop and Implement the Solution

The Improve Phase is where ideas begin to take shape.  Based on what you have learned so far, you will now explore creative ways to make improvements, testing promising solutions on a small scale to determine what works best before implementing them more broadly.  This thoughtful approach helps avoid surprises, build confidence in the changes, and ensures that improvements are practical, effective, and sustainable.

• Develop potential solutions. Collaborate with your project team to generate creative and practical ideas that target the root cause.
• Pilot the solution. Test promising ideas on a small scale and use data to confirm they lead to real improvement.
• Refine based on results. Analyze what worked and what didn’t, then adjust the approach to strengthen the solution.
• Implement the best solution. Roll out the most effective changes across the full process to drive consistent improvement.
