Commission Members

​Michael Sweet

Michael Sweet holds the “general population” seat as the Chairperson. Sweet has been a Partner at Fox Rothschild LLP since 2012, where he serves as Chair of the Financial Restructuring and Bankruptcy department, San Francisco Office Managing Partner and a Member of the Executive Committee. He is a Commissioner on the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and a member of the California Democratic Central Committee, Democratic State Party Platform Committee, California Jewish Policial Action Committee, and the Raoul Wallenberg San Francisco Jewish Democratic Club. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Policial Science from Brandeis University. His term expires December 31, 2030.

 

​​Margaret Wong​​

Margaret Wong holds the “small business” seat. Wong has been President and Chief Executive Officer at Golden California Inc. since 2014, at McWong Environmental Technology since 1997 and at McWong International Inc. since 1985. She was vice president at American Savings and Loans from 1983 to 1984 and corporate controller at Bostrom Management Corporation from 1974 to 1983. Wong is a member of the California Chamber of Commerce Board. Wong has been a Member of the Citizens Compensation Commission since 2017. Her term expires December 31, 2028.

 

Tyren Thompson​​​

Tyren Thompson holds the “compensation expert” seat. Thompson is currently a Compensation Partner at Zoom Video Communications, and has also worked in Compensation roles at interactive entertainment company Activision Blizzard, and fashion retail giant Forever 21. Thompson has also Lectur​ed on Compensation and Human Resources at California State University, Los Angeles, where he also completed his undergraduate Management studies in 2012. Thompson is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) through WorldAtWork, the leading global nonprofit organization for Total Rewards professionals, and has earned two Master of Science degrees from Pepperdine University. His term expires December 31, 2027.

 

Darrell Roberts​​

​Darrell Roberts holds a “labor” seat. Roberts currently serves as a Battalion Chief at the City of Chula Vista Fire Department, where he has served as a Firefighter since 2001. Roberts has been President of the International Association of Firefighters Local 2180 since 2014. He is 1st District Vice President at California Professional Firefighters. His term expires December 31, 2028.
