Dec. 24, 2025. The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) Benefits Division is updating the statewide Employee Wellness Program. These changes begin January 1, 2026. They do not impact the requirements outlined in Executive Order W-119-95 or CalHR Human Resources Policy 1409: Health and Wellness.
Key Updates Include:
• Program Name: The Employee Wellness Program will now be called Live Well. This new name replaces HealthierU and reflects CalHR’s continued focus on employee wellbeing.
• New Platform Vendor: Through the state’s regular competitive process, CalHR selected Grokker as the new program vendor. Live Well will use Grokker’s online platform to offer wellbeing content, tools and resources for state employees, expanding access to include dependents.
• Expanded Access & Support: The new platform will be available on a website, mobile app and smart TV app. Live Well will continue to offer statewide resources that support physical, emotional, social, community and financial wellbeing. The program is part of benefits for a life well lived.
Department Action Request: To make sure all employees have access to Live Well, each department must identify a Departmental Wellness Coordinator (DWC). DWCs act as the main contact between the department and CalHR. They share wellness information, promote employee participation and help support wellness activities. CalHR will provide guidance, training and communication to DWCs carrying out these duties.
Department leaders should confirm their assigned DWC and make sure the DWC’s contact information is updated by March 31, 2026.
Contact: To choose a DWC or ask questions about the Employee Wellness Program, email calhr.wellness@calhr.ca.gov.
