Technical writing is a type of writing where the author is writing about a particular subject requiring direction, instruction, or explanation. This two-day course provides intensive instruction on effective technical writing. Participants will explore concepts ranging from audience and plain language to types of reports and logical organization.
Technical writing is straightforward, and contains easy-to-understand explanations and/or instructions dealing with a particular subject. It is an efficient and clear way of explaining something and how it works.

This class is intended to benefit any staff person or analyst who writes policy papers, proposals, analyses, or any number of California State Government technical (but non-scientific documents). This class is not intended for those who must write or submit to scientific journals or related science, legal, or engineering publications.
