2019 Open Enrollment for Active Employees

Open enrollment for health, dental, vision, Consolidated Benefits (CoBen), FlexElect reimbursement accounts, and cash options ended October 4, 2019. Enrollments and changes made during open enrollment will take effect January 1, 2020.

​Benefits Calculator

The Benefits Calculator on CalHR’s website allows you to compare premiums for health, dental, and vision. Simply select a year, your bargaining unit, and number of dependents. You will then be able to compare your benefits options, as well as populate a dental plan form.

​Important Open Enrollment Reminders

  • If you are eligible for health benefits, but not currently enrolled, or are receiving CoBen or FlexElect cash in lieu of other qualifying group health coverage, you can enroll in health benefits during open enrollment.
  • If you have children, they are eligible for dependent coverage for dental and vision programs up to the age of 26.
  • If you enroll in a FlexElect reimbursement account during open enrollment, you have until December 31, 2019, to cancel or change your election.
  • If you enroll or are automatically re-enrolled into the cash option, you have until December 31, 2019, to cancel or change your election.

CalPERS will host several benefits education events throughout the state to inform members about programs and benefits available to them.  CalHR Benefit Program representatives will also be there to answer employee benefit questions.  Visit the CalPERS Benefits Education Events page for more information and to register.
