This one-day course introduces the methods and techniques utilized to plan a valid and legally defensible examination. Emphasis is placed on the legal and professional issues surrounding departmental examination planning and administration that are especially important for those at the supervisory and managerial level. The class will discuss the departmental testing concerns that are especially important to consider at the supervisory level. Also covered are the basics of how to administer different types of exams, including rules and best practices related to the application process, scheduling, and reasonable accommodations. The class also touches on State Personnel Board (SPB) Appeals and Compliance Review processes and procedures for exams.
