This program has been specifically designed to meet the required 20-hour training needs of newly appointed managers as it applies to Government Code 19995.4(e). Prior to registering, please read the course description and intended audience below.

Throughout the Executive Development Program, CEAs will be partnered with a fellow peer as well as operating in a team environment. California Leadership Academy's Executive Development Program cohorts are designed for the busy executive in mind. Our immersive approach ensures that executives not only learn from a lesson plan but from the experience of others. Together, we ensure that our executives are able to meet 21st-century challenges and succeed in our rapidly evolving leadership environment.

Newly appointed CEAs for the State of California. A CEA is anyone appointed to a position generally identified with Class Code 7500 and/or CEA or C.E.A in the State of California. Per Government Code section 18547, a CEA is defined as "an appointment to a high administrative and policy influencing position within the state civil service in which the incumbent's primary responsibility is the managing of a major function or the rendering of management advice to top-level administrative authority. Such a position can be established only in the top managerial levels of state service and is typified by broad responsibility for policy implementation and extensive participation in policy evolvement. Please check with your Department's HR or Labor Division to ensure you meet the requirements for this program.
