This new cohort has been specifically designed to meet the required 40 hour training needs of newly appointed managers (Staff Services Manager II/III or equivalent). Please read the entire course description prior to registering.
Leading teams to deliver great results for California is fundamental for state leaders. As a manager, you are a steward of taxpayer resources and administer vital programs for Californians. By the end of this class, you will be able to apply critical skills to lead teams, leverage resources, and use best practices to effectively and efficiently operate your program.
Each five-day cohort selects one colleague who best exemplifies the philosophy, values, and competencies of the California Leadership Academy's Manager Development Program to receive the Emerging Leader award. The award entitles the recipient to three days of complementary training from the Statewide Training Center.
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
Managers (SSMII/III or equivalent) appointed after June 27, 2016. SSM1 managers may also attend with the understanding that the intended audience is for senior managers who typically supervise teams and serve as program managers.
Please note that the Leadership Academy satisfies the training requirements for newly appointed managers and completion of the 80 hours supervisor’s course is a prerequisite.
