State Disability Insurance
State Disability Insurance is an employee paid benefit which provides short-term disability insurance benefits that partially cover wage losses from non-job-related injuries or illness or from pregnancy or childbirth.
In this session, representatives from the State Disability Insurance program will provide a high level overview of the State Disability Insurance Program including the Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave components. The presentation will include information on:
HR Specialists and Analysts
Becky Bayliss started her state career in 1981 and has been in the human resources field since 1993. She’s currently an analyst in the Personnel Services Branch of the Department of Personnel Administration and provides consultative services to DPA staff, personnel officers, other public employers and employee organizations regarding the full range of personnel laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Becky also presents SDI training at the Benefits Administrative Manual (BAM) training and conducts on-site SDI training for departments.
David Campos is an Outreach Specialist with the Employment Development Department’s State Disability Insurance (SDI) program. As a representative of the SDI program, David attends events throughout California educating employers and employee groups about the SDI programs, Paid Family Leave and Disability Insurance. He is also works on special projects which include marketing for the Disability Insurance Automaton project. Prior to working for the State, David worked in marketing and communications for AEG & Entercom Radio.
Elda Ortiz has worked for the State of California since 1997. Before her current position she worked for the Department of Corrections in the Health Benefit's Unit as a Senior Personnel Specialist. Elda is very passionate about enhancing job performance, team building and career opportunities. She has had well over 9 years of personnel experience and a total of 20 years of customer service experience. Elda is currently working for the State Controller's office in the Civil Service Audits unit.
Pliny Reynolds is a Payroll Operations Supervisor with the State Controller’s Office in the Disability Unit. She currently supervises a team of Payroll Specialists in the NDI, SDI and TD Unit. She and her team are responsible for the process and application of a wide variety of payroll programs for both Civil Service and CSU disability related activities associated with the Uniform State Payroll System.
