Lean White Belt T4T

Completion of the one day Lean White Belt course within the past 90 days is required prior to attending this course. For the January 2019 offering, we will allow students to attend a Lean White Belt offering after the completetion of the Lean White Belt T4T class. If you have not completed the course, please contact to schedule you in an upcoming offering.

The Lean White Belt Train-the-Trainer (T4T) course prepares students with the necessary training and practical experience for certification as a California Lean Academy certified instructor. The California Lean White Belt course has been developed as a one-day Lean orientation session to expose state employees to process improvement methodologies.

In order to deliver the California Lean White Belt course within your department, you must first complete the three-day California Lean White Belt T4T course. Upon completion of the training and successful delivery of a Lean White Belt class as well as related homework, trainees will be certified as a California Lean Academy instructor.

Certification Requirements

Lean White Belt training content is solely for the purpose of training and used by permission from CALHR/SPB. Since completion of this course carries with it a certification, the following requirements apply:

  1. Successful completion of the Lean White Belt Training (pre-requisite) within 90 days prior to the Lean White Belt T4T class. In the event that the proposed instructor attended the Lean White Belt Training more than 90 days prior, they will be required to observe an offering before the scheduled Lean White Belt T4T.
  2. After the successful completion of Lean White Belt T4T, students will be evaluated for suitability to move forward to step 3 (noted below). This evaluation will be based on instructor and coach feedback during the 3-day Lean White Belt T4T.
  3. Successful delivery of Lean White Belt Training under the supervision of an Evaluator.
  4. Completion and submission of the A3 project document within 30 days of completing step 3 (noted above).
  5. A commitment to deliver at least one Lean White Belt Training session per quarter within a calendar year to their department or to another department if requested by CalHR. This commitment shall begin upon successful completion of the Lean White Belt T4T.

In this three day train-the-trainer course, you will:

  • Prepare to deliver the one-day Lean White Belt scenario-based class through observation and practice
  • Explore Lean concepts and participant-centered facilitation and training techniques to increase class participation and ensure Lean Academy White Belt learning objectives are met
  • Practice delivery of the Lean White Belt course with peer and instructor coaching and feedback

Training will begin all three days at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. You must attend each day and stay for the entire class in order to complete White Belt T4T. Note the training is very intensive so please ensure your schedule is clear and your supervisor or manager is aware of this.
