Overview

This one-day course introduces the procedures and practices for developing and using structured interviews. The course will focus on the craft of developing proper interview questions and scoring criteria for a variety of job types and domains, including the use of background, knowledge, behavioral, and situational questions.

Objective

Participants will gain a foundation in the principles and techniques used to develop legally defensible and predictive structured interviews. Upon successful completion of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare structured interview questions
  • Create a rating criteria that includes suggested responses and benchmarks
  • Calculate interview pass points and maximum score
  • Standardize an interview score
  • Explain the process used to administer a structured interview
